A guest lecture program was organized for the 2nd and 3rd year BME students on 19.08.2024. The Chief Guest, Mrs. R. Suganya, Assistant Professor, Department of Biomedical Engineering at Paavai Engineering College, delivered a lecture on “Recent Trends in Diagnostic Equipment.”
In her lecture, she explained how to detect the sequence of electrical events that occur during the contraction and relaxation cycle of the heart. She also discussed Echocardiography, a diagnostic test that uses ultrasound waves to create images of the heart’s chambers, valves, and surrounding structures. She covered the various types of echocardiograms, including Transthoracic Echocardiogram, Transesophageal Echocardiogram, Stress Echocardiogram, and Doppler Echocardiogram.
Mrs. Suganya shared her personal experiences to help students better understand echocardiography. The session was interactive, and students had the opportunity to clear their doubts with the resource person. The students from the Department of Biomedical Engineering participated enthusiastically and greatly benefited from the lecture.
