On 22.12.2025, the 2nd year Mechanical Engineering students of Paavai Polytechnic college undertook an educational industrial visit to Mettur Thermal Power Plant. The visit was organized to provide students with practical exposure to power generation processes and industrial operations.
During the visit, students were guided through various sections of the plant, including the boiler units, turbines, control rooms, and auxiliary systems. The plant engineers and technical staff explained the principles of thermal power generation, energy efficiency, maintenance procedures, and safety protocols.
This visit offered students an excellent opportunity to relate classroom concepts to real-world applications, especially in areas of mechanical systems, thermodynamics, and industrial operations. The students gained insights into industrial workflow, safety management, and the practical challenges faced in large-scale power plants.
The industrial visit reflects PPC’s commitment to enhancing practical learning, bridging the gap between theory and industry, and preparing students for professional excellence. Such initiatives help students develop technical understanding, professional skills, and an appreciation for industrial standards and practices. The experience was highly appreciated by the students, who found the visit both educational and inspiring, reinforcing the importance of hands-on industrial exposure as part of their engineering education.
