A guest lecture programme was organized by the Civil Engineering Association of Paavai Polytechnic College for the second and third year students on 02.08.2018. Mrs.S.Sumathi Principal of Paavai Polytechnic College had inaugurated the guest lecture program and it was started with the Prayer Song by our Second year girls. After the prayer song, the Welcome Address was delivered by our Final year student R. Bhavithra. Our Final year student B. Pavithra introduced the chief guest to the gathering. The Chief Guest Mrs. J. Umanambi, HOD, Department of Civil Engineering, Paavai Engineering College had delivered an elaborate lecture on “FLUID MECHANICS”. In her lecture, she explained about the fluids and how to find its behaviour when it passes through the channels, pipes, its storage in containers and tanks and the area of application of fluid mechanics and hydraulics in Civil Engineering. She stated the continuity equation for discharge and how to calculate discharge for different cross-sections. At the end she clarified the doubts raised by the students and also motivated the students about the importance of communication skills. Finally, the vote of thanks was delivered by our Final year Student T.Janani Shamily. At last, the program was ended with the National Anthem.
