On 20.12.2025, the Computer Science and Engineering students of Paavai Polytechnic college, went on an educational industrial visit to Mettur Thermal Power Plant. The visit was organized to provide students with a practical understanding of industrial operations and real-time applications of engineering concepts.
During the visit, students were given a detailed guided tour of the plant, which included the This experience allowed students to connect theoretical knowledge from their CSE curriculum with practical industrial applications, particularly in areas such as industrial automation, data analysis, and system control technologies. Students also gained exposure to safety protocols, operational procedures, and environmental management practices within a large-scale power generation facility.
The visit aligns with PPC’s commitment to bridging academic learning with industry experience, enhancing students’ technical understanding, professional skills, and career preparedness. Students expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to observe advanced industrial technologies and the practical application of computer science in the energy sector. control rooms, monitoring systems, turbine operations, and power distribution units.
The technical staff and engineers at the plant provided insights into automation systems, digital monitoring, data acquisition, and the integration of software in power plant operations. This initiative reflects PPC’s ongoing effort to equip students with both theoretical knowledge and practical insights, fostering a well-rounded educational experience.
